Slightly Better Rather Than Perfect
By Pastor Brandon Hollar
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
There seems to be a pressure built within Christianity that perfection is the goal for a Christian. So, we make decisions and choices based on this expectation to be perfect. Too many times, however, we end up disappointed, discouraged, condemned and ashamed because we didn’t reach perfection. None of these things should ever be found in the life of a Christian.
Perfection is not the goal!
Your perfection has been already taken care of through Jesus Christ (Heb.10:14). Now we go forward getting a little better all the time. We press on. There is a life that Christ has planned for you that is filled with abundance, peace, rest, hope and so many other wonderful things. Don’t let false expectation rob you of these things. Determine today to just get slightly better and enjoy the abundant unlimited life that Jesus came to give you!
Abundant living is the goal!
